Position IFPW as a major new player in global health, highlighting its unique role in improving health supply chains and immunization programs in developing countries. The Gavi Pledging Conference, “Reach Every Child,” a high-level event hosted by German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the time of Germany’s G7 Presidency, brought together global leaders to mobilize $7.5 billion for Gavi to save the lives of an estimated 5-6 million children across 70 countries through immunization. Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is a leading global financing organization that brings together public and private sectors to share the vision of creating equal access to new and underused vaccines for children in developing countries. Chancellor Merkel convened a number of heads of state and influential stakeholders including Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, President of Tanzania; Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, President of Mali; Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway; Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank; Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; ministers of more than 20 implementing and donor countries; leading civil society groups; CEOs of vaccine manufacturing companies; UN agencies and others to the event.
